Why LiberaVoice.
I started LiberaVoice for my sister Maggy.
Maggy has Down syndrome. She can speak — and she has plenty to say — but the people outside our family can't always understand her. When she's hurting, hungry, or upset, we're left to guess until we get it right. Sometimes we figure it out fast. Sometimes we don't, and she gets frustrated, and so do we.
I've wanted a tool like this for Maggy for years. Something that meets her where she is, instead of asking her to speak the way other people do.
The technology finally caught up. SpeechBuddy listens to Maggy, learns how she says things, and speaks her words clearly to the people around her. The first time she spoke into it and heard her own phrase come back, she lit up.
That's why "Libera." It means free. Maggy deserves to communicate with the world freely. So does everyone like her.
